Welcome to an evening where we will expand our minds and thoughts about the world as we see it. Headlining is the former head of Santa Fe Institute, visionary physicist Geoffrey West is a pioneer in the field of complexity science. West work has been a game-changer for biologists when he applied the rigor of a physicist to the biological question of why we live as long as we do. The results changed science when West found that despite all the diversity in mammals, they are all, to a large degree, scaled versions of each other.
Then he made the move of exploring how cities and companies too are constellations of networks and laws of scalability, and he could relate with remarkable precision to them. The implications of these discoveries are far-reaching, and are just beginning to be explored. What is the perfect formula for scaling up, and moving forward in a sustainable way? Why do some thrive, and why do some fail?
